All Shapes and Sizes

Just as lobsters come in many different sizes and colors, the people who catch them also come in a wide variety. “Lobsterman” and it’s counterpart “sternman” are terms that include both men and women.  I’d like to introduce you to Captain Chris from Monhegan Island, Captain Chris, may not fit your image of the typical craggy faced fisherman. In fact this mother of a toddler is downright pretty, possessing a keen intelligence, and a quick laugh. But make no mistake, she has earned the respect of a her fellow fisherman on the water through very hard work and persistence.  After attending college and trying a desk job Chris found out that she belonged on the water and is one of the few year round residents who call Monhegan home.  Check back to learn more about Captain Chris, her friend sternman Lisa, and more surprising characters who have earned the title Lobsterman.
